A guideline for South African customs requirements is available on application to MSC Logistics (Durban).


BOTSWANA:

BY RAIL

ZIMBABWE:

  • No left hand driven vehicles permitted into Zimbabwe.
  • No vehicles older than 5 years permitted into Zimbabwe.


ZAMBIA:

BY ROAD
Transit Time Approx. 9 - 10 days from dispatch ex South Africa to Lusaka
Approx. 11 - 13 days from dispatch ex South Africa to Copperbelt
Rates include: THC
SPS (Ship and Port Security)
Port Cargo Dues
Bond Fee (to cover the customs declaration between Durban and the Zambian border
Bond Acquittal Fee
Transport and Final destination by road (door delivery)
Drop-Off Fee
Zambia Agency Fee
  • There are special requirements for milk powder, milk powder related products and other food stuffs. Please apply to MSC Logistics for details.  The surcharge as at 01/05/2011 is USD 750.

The following documents are required at MSC Logistics in Durban 10 days before the vessel is due in Durban. Late receipt of these documents will result in the issue of penalties.
  • Copy B/L
  • Copy Commercial Invoice : Per Container
  • Copy Packing List : Per Container
  • Donated or Aid Cargo : Donation Certificate : Per Container
  • Donated or Aid Cargo : Valued Inventory : Per Container with all the information as required by South African Customs
  • For Vehicles : Jevic Certificate : If no certificate is available inspection will be made at Durban. All cost for Shipper / Consignee


Containers are held in South Africa until the following requirments are in place :
  • Documents are received at Durban for customs declaration
  • Consignee has surrendered the original B/L to MSC agent in Lusaka
  • Consignee has paid local release fee to MSC agent in Lusaka
  • Consignee has appointed a clearing agent to meet the truck at the border in order to affect Zambian clearance within 24 hours of arrival there
  • All freight and oncarriage and any penalties which might have been incurred are settled.


All rates exclude final clearance at the Zambian border.
